Ezekiel

Servitude of the Nations : 430 years

Ezekiel 4:4-6

4 “And as for you, lie upon your left side, and you must lay the error of the house of Israel upon it.+ For the number of the days that you will lie upon it you will carry their error. 5 And I myself must give to you the years of their error+ to the number of three hundred and ninety days,+ and you must carry the error of the house of Israel6 And you must complete them.

“And you must lie upon your right side in the second case, and you must carry the error of the house of Judah forty days.+ A day for a year, a day for a year, is what I have given you.+

390  days Judgment against the 10 northern tribes or “house of Israel”
+ 40  days Judgment against the 2 southern tribes or “house of Judah”
430  years Judgment “a day for a year” against the nation of Israel

Babylonian Exile

Jeremiah 25:7-9

7 “‘But you did not listen to me,’ is the utterance of Jehovah, ‘to the intent that you might offend me with the work of your hands, for calamity to yourselves.’+

8 “Therefore this is what Jehovah of armies has said, ‘“For the reason that you did not obey my words, 9 here I am sending and I will take all the families of the north,”+ is the utterance of Jehovah, “even [sending] to Neb·u·chad·rez?zar the king of Babylon, my servant,+ and I will bring them against this land+ and against its inhabitants and against all these nations round about;+ and I will devote them to destruction and make them an object of astonishment and something to whistle+ at and places devastated to time indefinite.+

Payoff Sabbath of the Land : 70 years

2 Chronicles 36:19-23

19 And he proceeded to burn the house of the [true] God+ and pull down the wall+ of Jerusalem; and all its dwelling towers they burned with fire and also all its desirable articles,+ so as to cause ruin.+ 20 Furthermore, he carried off those remaining from the sword captive to Babylon,+ and they came to be servants to him+ and his sons until the royalty of Persia+ began to reign; 21 to fulfill Jehovah’s word by the mouth of Jeremiah,+ until the land had paid off its sabbaths.+ All the days of lying desolated it kept sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.+

22 And in the first year of Cyrus*+ the king of Persia,+ that Jehovah’s word+ by the mouth of Jeremiah+ might be accomplished, Jehovah roused the spirit+ of Cyrus+ the king of Persia, so that he caused a cry to pass through all his kingdom, and also in writing,+ saying: 23 “This is what Cyrus the king of Persia+ has said, ‘All the kingdoms of the earth Jehovah the God of the heavens* has given me,+ and he himself has commissioned me to build him a house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.+ Whoever there is among you of all his people,+ Jehovah his God be with him.+ So let him go up.’”+

70 Years Repaid

In 606/607 B.C. Israel was taken into captivity by Babylon. Exactly 70 years later, Cyrus issued a decree to rebuild Jerusalem’s temple in 538/537 B.C.E.

The Seven Times Curse

Meanwhile, they had been warned…

Leviticus 26:18-33

18 “‘If, though, despite these things, you will not listen to me, I shall then have to chastise you seven times as much* for your sins.+ 19 And I shall have to break the pride of your strength and make your heavens like iron+ and your earth like copper. 20 And your power will simply be expended for nothing, as your earth will not give its yield,+ and the tree of the earth will not give its fruit.+

21 “‘But if you keep walking in opposition to me and not wishing to listen to me, I shall then have to inflict seven times more blows upon you according to your sins.+ 22 And I will send the wild beasts of the field among you,+ and they will certainly bereave you of children+ and cut off your domestic animals and reduce the number of you, and your roads will actually be desolated.+

23 “‘Nevertheless, if with these things you do not let yourselves be corrected by me+ and you just have to walk in opposition to me, 24 I, yes, I, shall then have to walk in opposition to you;+ and I, even I, shall have to strike you seven times for your sins.+25 And I shall certainly bring upon you a sword wreaking vengeance+ for the covenant;+ and you will indeed gather yourselves into your cities, and I shall certainly send pestilence into the midst of you,+ and you must be given into the hand of an enemy.+ 26 When I have broken for you the rods around which ring-shaped loaves are suspended,*+ ten women will then actually bake your bread in but one oven and give back your bread by weight;+ and you must eat but you will not be satisfied.+

27 “‘If, however, with this you will not listen to me and you just must walk in opposition to me,+ 28 I shall then have to walk in heated opposition to you,+ and I, yes, I, shall have to chastise you seven times for your sins.+ 29 So you will have to eat the flesh of your sons, and you will eat the flesh of your daughters.+ 30 And I shall certainly annihilate your sacred high places+ and cut off your incense stands and lay your own carcasses upon the carcasses of your dungy idols;+ and my soul will simply abhor you.+31 And I shall indeed give your cities to the sword+ and lay your sanctuaries* desolate,+ and I shall not smell your restful odors.+32 And I, for my part, will lay the land desolate,+ and your enemies who are dwelling in it will simply stare in amazement over it.+ 33 And you I shall scatter among the nations,+ and I will unsheathe a sword after you;+ and your land must become a desolation,+and your cities will become a desolate ruin.

Calendar Days & Years Conversion

God gave the Jews the most sophisticated calendar on Earth.  It is both a Lunar and a Solar calendar—based on the cycles of the moon and the sun.  The Jewish calendar uses a 360 day lunar—and prophetic—year and then adds a ‘Leap Month’ on specific years to accurately coincide with the Solar cycle we use on our ‘Julian’ calendar.

Thus, the easiest way to unravel this prophecy is to first convert this prophecy into days…

360 years remaining in judgment against the nation of Israel
x 7 chastised seven times as much for not repenting after 70 years in exile
2,520  years new remaining judgement
x 360 days convert years into days
907,200 days judgment remained against the nation of Israel after the Babylonian captivity

Now, to convert the days of judgement remaining in this prophecy into our Julian solar calendar—365.25 day years—the .25 adjusts for leap years.

907,200 days  ÷  365.25  days  =   2,483.78 years of God’s judgment remained

Countdown

From the return of the Jews from exile at Cyrus’ decree to rebuild Jerusalem’s temple in July 23, 537 B.C.E…

160 days left from July 23, 537 BC to the end of the year
+ 906,915 days from January 1, 536 B.C. to January 1, 1948
907,075 days leaving 125 remaining days…
+ 125 days May 4, 1948
+ 10 days Gregorian Reform of the Julian calendar adds 10 days
May 14, 1948 State of Israel is established by President Harry Truman

Jerusalem

If you shift the timeline from starting on the year of Babylon’s conquest of the nation Israel and ending with Israel once again raised as a nation in 1948 to start on the year when Babylon returned and destroyed Jerusalem the end point now ends on the exact year Israel once again took sovereign control over Jerusalem in 1967 (after the “Six Day War“).

Messiah

Cyrus’ decree was followed by that of a later ruler, Artaxerxes, who decreed that the city of Jerusalem should be rebuilt. The book of Daniel revealed that “from the going forth of the word to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem [in 455 B.C.E.] until Messiah the Leader,” there would be 69 “weeks” of 7 years each. (Daniel 9:24, 25) This prophecy also came true. Right on schedule in the year 29 C.E., 483 years after Artaxerxes’ decree went into effect in the Promised Land, Jesus was baptized and began his earthly ministry. —Insight on the Scriptures II, chap. 5 pp. 61-75

 607 B.C.E. The desolation of Judah + 70 years
537 B.C.E. The return of the Jews from exile + 82 years
455 B.C.E. The rebuilding of Jerusalem’s walls + 483 years
29 C.E. The baptism of Jesus

Conclusion

God* is not a man that he should tell lies,+
Neither a son of mankind that he should feel regret.+
Has he himself said it and will he not do it,
And has he spoken and will he not carry it out? — Numbers 23:19

God’s prophecy comes true to the day—nearly 2,600 years later—Jesus promises, “for truly I say to you that sooner would heaven and earth pass away than for one smallest letter or one particle of a letter to pass away from the Law by any means and not all things take place.” — Matthew 5:18

There are still prophecies to be fulfilled…

26 “‘“And I will conclude with them a covenant of peace;+ an indefinitely lasting covenant is what there will come to be with them.+ And I will place them and multiply them+ and place my sanctuary in the midst of them to time indefinite.+ 27 And my tabernacle will actually prove to be over them,+ and I shall certainly become their God, and they themselves will become my people.+ 28 And the nations will have to know that I, Jehovah,+ am sanctifying Israel when my sanctuary comes to be in the midst of them to time indefinite.”’”+ — Ezekiel 37:26-28
